Reading at Home three times a week - Guidance for Parents
Reading with your child at home is not only a way to spend time together but will also foster in them a love of stories, characters and adventures. Reading helps children develop their vocabulary and this impacts on their writing and spelling too.
We ask parents to spend time reading at home three times a week; this can be reading together, reading to your child or taking it in turns. Audiobooks are also a great way to spend a car journey or even as a bedtime story to help with sleep. These websites may also provide some helpful resources and links.
Spellings
Your child will be given spelling homework each week, which we ask them to learn. Children will have a spelling test the following week. Repeated practice of spelling helps children move their new learning into their long-term memory.
