Observations & Assessments
We observe and assess your child as they explore the environment and a range of independent and teacher led focus tasks. This sometimes involves taking a photo of your child and adding comments to explain their activity.
Our staff are experienced and talk with the class teacher about how best to meet your child’s needs by understanding where they are and how to support them in their ‘next steps’ of learning as they progress and develop.
Each child has their own ‘Learning Journal’ where we keep examples of mark making, creative projects such as paintings and some photos of your child as they engage in their learning. We often share these folders with the children and their comments are added by staff so we have a record of their thinking and ideas.
We aim to send home regular topic information and reminders about important dates via school newsletters and emails.
Snacks & Lunchtimes
All Nursery and Reception children should bring a named water bottle to school, which can be taken home to be washed and refilled every day.
We provide a daily fruit snack (apple, banana, citrus fruit, carrot, raisins, etc.) and children can have a carton of milk (if you have pre-ordered this) or water with their fruit snack.
We also have regular class-based cooking and tasting activities.
PLEASE INFORM THE TEACHER IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY SPECIFIC DIETARY REQUIREMENTS OR ALLERGIES.
Nursery children can bring a packed lunch from home or order a school lunch for £2.30 each day. Payments should be made at the school office or in a named envelope to the class teacher.
All Reception age children are entitled to a FREE SCHOOL LUNCH every day.
Please check the lunch menus on our website and let the class teacher know if you'd like your child to have a hot lunch (meat/vegetarian options available daily). In the Summer months, our caterers also often provide a packed lunch option including sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt, crisps and a drink.
